Congratulations to SACO for attaining the Silver award for SYF 2009! Haha I'm proud of them having been able to maintain the standard and never giving up during practices. God has faithfully provided them with everything they need =D Enjoy your qing gong yan this friday guys!
This week has been eventful for me. I had training in camp as usual on Monday, when in the afternoon I was informed that it was confirmed I've been selected to be a scout for the battalion. It came to me as a shock and surprise. They've never given me prior notice, nor let me have a choice to choose whether or not I want to change. All I knew was that I was to pack my stuff and move out of my platoon to a new company in the same camp. Hence, I'm now in Scout platoon of Support coy 5 SIR.
The story doesn't end there. Upon arrival at the company office of support coy, I was told by one of the platoon sergeants that I was to book out that night and report to kaki bukit SAF driving circuit for jeep driving course! Wow! I was actually quite pleased to be able to learn driving instead of riding Haha. And so, after re-packing my stuff, I went home. From then on for the next one month till June, I will be able to book out every day! Haha another bonus I think, to be able to go home every night and enjoy the comfort of my own bed =)
However, I met up with complications the next day. Tuesday, I reported to the driving circuit as I was told. I also found some other new guys there from support company, so I followed them around. But I didn't know that they were there for the riding course. The riders were told to wait in the canteen. After about an hour, we were told that the course didn't start that day and we were to report back to bukit panjang camp at 11am. Of course, I went along with them. Little did I know that the jeep people had already started their course when I left the place. I wasted a whole day joining the support company in urban ops which I've already done. I realised my mistake when talking to the group of people whom I followed back to camp. By then it was too late, and I've missed an entire day's lesson on jeep. Thankfully, there was another guy from Bravo coy (same as me previously) who was just sent over to support for scout training like me. He also missed the first day of jeep course.
The next morning, both of us reported to the driving circuit and met up with the jeep people this time. The people present were already split into 2 groups A and B, so we were lost. When the instructor came, we told him we were new guys joining the jeep platoon. Immediately, we were told "What new guys? NO no NO no NO... We don't accept anymore, the intake closed yesterday already. Contact ur unit to confirm." Both of us were taken aback by his reaction. This matter caused a little commotion. Our platoon sergeant back in camp contacted the head instructor, and after a while, they finally decided to take us in. Oh Thank God! I'm really grateful that things got sorted out and we could still participate in the course. We still had to do some amount of catch up, but both of us are confident we will be back on track soon.
Currently, we're both behind by one parking lesson. Hopefully, a make-up can be arranged. I'm also working on the highway code, as I'll be having a test this coming Tuesday. But it shouldn't be a problem. Haha going to driving school every day seems so familiar, as if I'm back in school, going for classroom lessons on theory and such. Haha I get to exercise my brain a little during this one month as well.
I'm not sure what God's plan is for me, bringing me all around, making things seem so messy for me. But I'm sure He'll make a way, and deliver me through my difficulties faced =D Looking forward to another new week at Driving!
