Hey I'm back again for another week's update ~
I had my first driving test on Tuesday. Unfortunately it didnt go very well as I expected. It lasted a mere 5 minutes, exiting from the carpark and making one round just to go back in. Although I got the most strict tester for the day, I can't blame him for failing me. I have myself to blame for being over-confident and overlooking some safety points which I shld have taken note of. Starting off was okay, then he told me to turn left out of the carpark. Firstly, at the exit I didn't position my vehicle properly which made me end up doing a wide turn. Next, for turning left I didn't make sure my left was clear of vehicles and only watched the right side. Then to wrap up the disaster, a land rover came from my left as I was moving out of the carpark. My wide turning plus confined road space put rover and me in a perfect position for an accident to occur. The tester pressed the brake of the vehicle and stalled the engine. This constituted a major fault and immediate failure for me. My heart broke upon realising my silly mistake.
While the rest of the people who passed got to go island-wide driving on expressways, I had to continue with public road driving. In a way, I think it will give me better practice for the upcoming test tomorrow. I will definitely be more careful this time, be more patient and tolerant. I don't wanna be stressed out again by failing Haha. I also want to be able to go out for island-wide driving! I will get to clock more mileage from there =) Hopefully I'll be able to pass my second driving test tomorrow. And I hope the others who will be tested with me will be able to overcome this challenge as well...
On thursday, the Circle Line stage 3 was opened! This is a big thing for me because Bartley station is now my nearest accessible MRT station. It's so much closer to my home than the previous Serangoon station. With the Circle Line, I have access to NEL and NS line... and Bishan is just 6 mins away lol. So on Saturday after my driving in the morning, I took the train to Junction 8 to meet with the Dongs. We were celebrating Lucas' birthday. I wasn't with them in the morning. Those who were, went to lucas' house to give him a surprise. They got a big box enough to fit someone in it. The box was set outside the door so when lucas came out and opened the box, he got a pleasant surprise to find one of them inside Haha. How creative and fun it must have been. After that, they had lunch at food junction and I found them there. At around 4pm we set off to minds cafe at boat quay. Over there, we played I'm the Boss for quite a long time. It's a very business-like game with investments and deals to be made successful through negotiation between the players. With lots of thinking and scheming among ourselves, the game took quite long to play Haha. We moved on to Snorta! A fun game using animal sounds that I played before with CO people. I was silly enough to choose a sound "eh eh eh..." Because other players can accidentally say it without knowing they got the correct sound Haha. I think I was the loser for that game. We only had time for one game unfortunately.
After paying the bill, some of us headed to plaza sing for movie Terminator Salvation. I had to book the tickets beforehand because this show is a big hit now. There won't be good seats if we were to buy tickets that night. The show was quite confusing. I think I wasn't very familiar with the first 3 shows so I didn't really understand much. But there's definitely quite some action involved, and some cool moves as well Haha. Still somehow disappointing though... However, I had a great time organising Saturday's activity for the Dongs =D
Life has its ups and downs. There's a reason for everything God has put us through. It's always good to be blessed with good things in life. But beware not to be too engulfed by the treasures of the world for they will fade away like snow. All of us have been through hard and trying times, be it physically or emotionally challenging, it helps us to develop character and strength to embrace greater obstacles in future. Keep in mind that no 2 persons are the same in this world. Every one is unique. How wonderful that God has created us so differently with variety. He has a purpose for each and every one of our lives. So don't be discouraged if someone else seems to be doing better things than you do. What's important is that you carry out God's will for your life.
I find the song "The Climb" sung by Miley Cyrus very meaningful. I just want to share the lyrics of the chorus with you:
There's always gonna be another mountain
Always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's The Climb!
The Song can be found in the link under the Songs column =>
God bless you!
