It's been a week of blessings I would say... Counting my blessings and Thanking Him for all his provisions =)
Last friday, I received an email that my music theory grade 5 results were released online. I've waited 2 months for this news to come! Anxiety and suspense started to build up within me as I logged into my account. When I clicked on the link which reveals my results, I was greeted with a single row of info. What used to be "No results published" was now replaced with details like Name, Test, Grade, Mark, Cat...etc. I looked under the column labelled Mark. There it displayed 100. Forgive me for sounding a little stupid, but for the first 2-3 seconds, I was wondering why they didn't show me my marks but the full mark of the paper? I expected xx/100 or sth like that lol. Then it hit me... My marks WAS 100/100!! WOW! I never expected that at all... the best I thought maybe 90+ get distinction happy liao... But God is good and He has given me more than I expected =D It's surprising because I didn't have much practice on composition, and was worried about failing that section comprising 15 marks. I never knew that they would award me full 15 marks! I'm now waiting for the marking details and certificate by mail. Hoping it won't take too long Haha. I've already waited more than a week.
Over the past week of driving course, I've had to go through 2 tests. One was the Highway Situational Problems (HSP) test, and the other was the Parking test. HSP is sth like final theory I guess, but it's an oral test. In order to pass, I'll have to pass 3 out of 5 boards within 15 mins. The tester will set up a scenario on the board which shows a certain type of junction using toy cars and trucks, etc. Then I'll have to mention ALL the steps correctly in order to make a simple safe right/left/U turn or go straight etc. If the tester is strict, he can fail your board if you forget or said one single point wrongly! Before the test I was worried if I could pass the first time or not. Haha I just wanted to get the test done and over with, don have to stay back and waste time. As I entered the test room and sat down in front of the tester, I was literally shaking on the inside Haha (really anxious + cold temp = spasms :-P) I am truly thankful that I was given a good tester who was lenient and patient with me. He also gave me scenarios that were simple, nothing out of the ordinary. There was one step I mentioned "slow down and give way to oncoming...." which was wrong. He stopped me and asked how was I to make sure that I move slowly until all the oncoming cars pass me by? Amazingly, he allowed me to repeat and correct myself on the spot! It was supposed to be "slow down and STOP to give way...." Look at how tricky this test is! Haha now can you see why I was so nervous? Eventually, I passed 2 boards and answered a bonus question correctly. With that, I passed the test with 3/3! Happy and glad =D
Parking test was held on Thursday. The tester was more than an hour late! Mainly because he was assessing another guy on driving test. When he arrived, he immediately told us to shift the poles away from our original practice positions. He sort of commented that we didn't know the dimensions and were all dependent on our instructor to take measurements for us. He gave me the impression that he's gonna be a very strict tester. When my turn came, I was confident I could clear it no problemo. Interestingly, the tester didn't seem to watch my every move. Most of the time, I would see him looking away from me, or walking around looking at the ground or anything else except the parking jeep lol. The test went smoothly for me, I didn't knock down any poles, and managed to complete parallel and reverse parking under the required 10 mins! So happy to have passed all these tests on the first attempt Haha =D
This coming week, I'll be having my driving assessment on Monday. I'll have to pass it in order to qualify for my first driving test (the real deal) on Tuesday. I really hope that I'll manage to pass all these on the first attempt with God's help ;) It'll be one of my greatest achievements to be able to do that. In fact, I may have a chance of being awarded Best Trainee! Who knows? Lol.
Regarding uni applications, I think I feel more inclined now to accept the offer by NTU aerospace engineering. I'm quite convinced that it will equip me with better experiences in the industry than NUS will. Though it will be very competitive, I'm willing to take up the challenge and bring myself to a new level as one of the top engineering students =) That will be my aim, as well as to build up my character and be a servant leader for others if given the chance to... Haha congrats to those who have found a place in their uni courses, especially the girls who will be starting term in 2-3 months time!
Time passes quickly by... Take time to stop to smell the roses for they're here today but gone tomorrow. Carpe diem... Seize the Day! =)
